BIRKA, designed by Stig Lindberg, was the biggest seller in Gustavsberg's history. It was manufactured for 22 years, from 1973 until 1995. The combination of the sophisticated form and practical functionality seemed to embody the 70s dream of being close to nature and the return of craftmanship. BIRKA's exterior arouses memories of a birch bast and the tableware has a look of honesty and simplicity.
